My dearest soul,
Welcome to the beginning of something sacred.
Not just a blog — a refuge for soft hearts, tired spirits, and anyone seeking Latinx mental health support while the world keeps demanding strength.
Before anything else, I want to share why I created Meztli, and why the moon became the center of this journey.
Why Meztli? Why the Moon?
If you’re here, you already know this space is about mental health, healing, and making it safe to talk about feelings — especially in Latinx communities where silence has often been the only option.
I don’t remember much of my childhood. But I remember the moon.
More specifically… Sailor Moon.
I can’t remember living with some of my siblings, but I can remember the exact episode I first saw her. She was my favorite superhero instantly. While everyone else had a favorite Disney princess, mine was Princess Serenity — a princess and a warrior. Because who says you can’t be both?
In some quiet way, she helped me survive things I didn’t yet have words for.
But it was bigger than nostalgia. I didn’t want to name my brand just Moon or Luna. I wanted something rooted in culture, ancestry, and meaning.
And that’s when I found the word Meztli — completely by accident. And everything clicked.
✨ What Does “Meztli” Mean?
In Náhuatl, Meztli means moon.
And in Aztec belief, the moon wasn’t just a symbol — she was a guide, a guardian, a reminder that:
🌙 Darkness isn’t the end
🌙 Rest is holy
🌙 Healing comes in phases
🌙 You don’t have to shine all the time to be worthy
The moon protects those who move quietly, feel deeply, and carry light even on days they don’t feel it.
Tell me that’s not comforting.

🌕 Why I Built Meztli Around the Moon
Because healing isn’t loud. It isn’t linear. It isn’t perfect.
Healing looks like:
Saying no even when your heart is shaking
Taking breaks without guilt
Crying out of nowhere for reasons you can’t explain
Starting over again and again
Choosing softness after years of surviving on hardness
The moon understands that.
I wanted a brand that understands you just as deeply.
🌘 Why Aztec Symbolism Is in Our Designs
Many Meztli pieces include Aztec-inspired artwork — not just for aesthetics, but to honor:
✨ Indigenous roots
✨ Cultural storytelling
✨ The quiet strength of our people
When you wear a Meztli piece, it’s meant to feel like an emotional shield — a reminder that you don’t have to pretend you’re okay just to make others comfortable.
🇲🇽 Talking About Mental Health in the Latinx Community
This part scares me — because some people will love what I’m about to say and some might not.
I’ve heard the comments our people (and even my own family) make about mental health, and they’re rarely positive. But it’s rarely cruelty — it’s generational silence. Parents who taught us to hide emotions because their parents did the same.
But our generation has the power to break those cycles. And I want Meztli to be part of that shift.
🌗 What This Blog Is About
Here, we’ll talk about:
💛 Healing
💛 Mental health in the Latinx community
💛 Culture & identity
💛 Community & belonging
💛 Softness & self-care
💛 Vulnerability, chisme, and everyday life
Some posts will be gentle. Some will be funny. Some might feel like a hug you didn’t know you needed.
But all of them will be honest.
🌙 Thank You for Being Here
Meztli exists because souls like yours deserve comfort — in clothing, in community, and in the way we talk about healing.
If you’re reading this, you’re part of this story now. And I’m grateful for you.
With all my moonlove,
Geraldina
